Our story
Our founder
Hi, I am Naomi, Founder at Naturals by Livy a UK based, hair, skincare and wholefoods line made from natural & organic Tanzanian oils, herbs and plants. I am a lover of all things natural, healthy and exploring all the wonderful elements of my heritage. I have spent many years exploring natural remadies and natural beauty treatments and believe in adding value at origin and have been working for nearly 2 years with small holder farmers and womens group to build capacity locally to bring this range of products to you.
A clean & natural experience
Looking good makes us feel good, but this should not come at the expense of our health, by unknowingly exposing our bodies to toxic skin and hair products. Naturals by Livy offers a refreshing natural beauty experience to women who are conscious of their health and love the planet. Our authentic formulations consist of sustainably grown blends of plant-based oils, herbs, and butters. We use organic processes and recycle the by products of our plants back into nature, so it actually contributes to the biodiversity of the planet.
Traditional & Authentic
Our journey began with me spending nearly 2 years in Tanzania learning more about my culture and heritage. I discovered the rich indigenous history surrounding the herbs and seeds used to produce clean and natural oils for centuries. This knowledge often passed on by our grandmothers has been lost over time which I wanted to change. The name Livy actually comes from the first and last two letters of my grandmothers names Lilian and Ivy who for different reasons shaped who and where I am today and legacies exist in all we do.
So after all that, I became passionate about sharing these timeless and ageless sustainable approaches to beauty and wellbeing with you.
Our Impact
Driven by our mission to do good, we have developed a sustainable value chain, where we are working with groups of women small holder farmers who are the producers of our oil seeds and plant based products. Every purchase you make will have a direct and positive and impact to Tanzanian women and small holder farmers working in some of the most remote village locations.
Something personal
When I travelled to Tanzania in early 2021 I was pregnant with my first child. Whilst in Tanzania, I went into preterm birth and lost my son soon after he was born. It was in the months that followed that I found out that neonatal death is largest cause of death in Tanzania, something which is still a stigma and not often talked about. Loosing my son was and is the most difficult experience of my life and in his memory, I have setup the Kimelo Neonatal Fund which helps fund the provision of neonatal care. We have made a commitment that every product sold, will contribute proceeds to fund the provision of neonatal care to Tanzanian women.
